We often get interesting questions from our various clients in the chemical industry. Lately, I got one which I thought would be useful to share on this blog as well.
The question was:
“Is possible to get the Safety Data Sheet of a product (or the information related to its safety) by entering the UFI code in ECHA webpage?”
At first this might seem like a funny question. However, the more you think about it, it makes sense that you would be able to access everything on one portal.
But for now, the legislation is set-up in such a way, you do not need to submit the actual Safety Data Sheet of the product to ECHA, when submitting the Poison Centre Notifications (PCN). So, the short answer is, unfortunately this is not possible. Only the Poison Centres and state enforcement authorities might have access to the PCN, so the data is not publicly available.
If your company is facing challenges regarding UFI codes and PCNs, write us an e-mail at info@bens-consulting.com. We can help you.
