Transporting small quantities of dangerous goods is one of the ADR exceptions specified in chapter 1.1.3 ADR.
This is an exception related to the quantity of dangerous goods per transport unit. The essential data is the number of points calculated in accordance with chapter 1.1.3.6 ADR. If the number of points does not exceed the value of 1000, it is a transport of small quantities of dangerous goods.
The calculation of points depends on the transport group of the dangerous goods. The more dangerous the chemical, the lower the transport group it belongs to, and the larger the factor by which the quantity must be multiplied in the point calculation.
| Transport Group* | Multiplication Factor |
| 1 | 50 |
| 2 | 3 |
| 3 | 1 |
*The transport group to which the product belongs is indicated in section 14 of the safety data sheet or in the table in chapter 3.2 ADR.
The most common mistakes in transporting small quantities of dangerous goods are:
· the transport is not accompanied by the appropriate transport document,
· incorrect calculation of points on the transport document,
· the driver is not trained (the driver does not need an ADR certificate, but must be trained by a safety advisor),
· the packaging is not tested and approved in accordance with ADR (does not have an ADR "code"),
· the vehicle does not have a 2 kg fire extinguisher,
· the cargo is not secured against movement.
