What you need to know about the transport of limited quantities of dangerous goods (small packaging units) I have already written about on our blog.
The transport of limited quantities of dangerous goods is one of the ADR exemptions specified in chapter 1.1.3 ADR or 3.4 ADR. It is an exemption related to the size of the packaging.
The essential information is the limited quantity, which is specified in section 14 of the safety data sheet or on the list of dangerous goods (section 3.2 ADR). If the size of the packaging does not exceed the legally prescribed limited quantity, it is the transport of limited quantities of dangerous goods.
The most common mistakes in the transport of limited quantities of dangerous goods are:
· the inner packaging is not in the outer transport packaging,
· the outer transport packaging has other ADR labels or UN numbers in addition to the LQ mark,
· the driver is not trained (the driver does not need an ADR certificate, but must be trained by a safety advisor),
· the limited quantity is exceeded,
· there are no directional arrows on the outer carton (for liquids),
· cartons marked with LQ contain no ADR goods,
· all ADR data (UN number, ADR name...) are listed on the transport document
· the load is not secured against movement.
If you are not sure whether you are transporting limited quantities of dangerous goods correctly, and if your drivers who transport limited quantities of dangerous goods are not properly trained, write to me at the email address: simona.miklavcic@bens-consulting.eu.
