We’ve heard this one before:
"Since the label is the same everywhere, can we skip the UFI?"
The short answer: no - and here’s why.
The UFI is not optional. It’s a unique identifier that links your product to the poison centre notification. Without it, emergency responders won’t have access to your product’s composition.
Even if:
- You use the same SDS everywhere
- The packaging looks identical
- The formula hasn’t changed
Your product still needs a UFI on the label.
Skipping UFI can lead to fines, product holds, or worse - delays in medical response if something goes wrong.
Bottom line: UFI is small, but critical. Keep it visible and valid.
Need help making sure your UFI is correctly set up and used? Just ask - we’re here to help.
