As we have published on our blog several times, Hungary is one of the member states that has had PCN fees from the beginning.
On the webpage of NNGYK “NATIONAL CENTER FOR PUBLIC HEALTH AND PHARMACY” in Hungary new prices have been published for submitting Poison Centre Notifications (PCNs) to Hungary.
So let’s take a look.
When submitting PCNs via the ECHA portal the fees are the following:
For notifications submitted before 30 January 2025:
- if the submission is an initial notification, the fee is 16000 HUF/notification (approx. €40)
- when the submission is a new notification upon a significant change of composition, the fee is 12000 HUF/notification (approx. €30)
- update notifications are free of charge
- Voluntary notifications are also free of charge (e.g. non-hazardous mixtures, substances, cosmetics, etc.). It is important that the fee exemption can be applied only if the “Voluntary” box is ticked as the submission type.
For notifications submitted from 30 January 2025:
- if the submission is an initial notification, the fee is 21000 HUF/notification (approx. €53)
- when the submission is a new notification upon a significant change of composition, the fee is 15600 HUF/notification (approx. €39)
- update notifications are free of charge
So for PCNs that have been submitted before 30 January 2025, the fees remain same as before. For notifications submitted from 30 January 2025, the new fees apply.
We have also written to the Hungarian authorities, whether Voluntary notifications are still free of charge, since they are no longer explicitly stated. We will update when we get the latest information.
