Were you also surprised by the high temperatures in mid-June? A trip to the seaside or the mountains is certainly one of the best solutions if you are looking for a refreshment.
For many who couldn't leave the hot cities, garden pools are a quick way to cool down. For both adults and children. Therefore, it is extremely important that the quality of pool water is satisfactory.
For this purpose, various chemical agents are used, some of which belong to the group of biocidal products.
With the increased demand for products to maintain pool water hygiene, manufacturers and importers are including new agents in their offerings.
What needs to be done to place such agents on the market in Bosnia and Herzegovina?
First, the obligations depend on where the manufacturers and importers are based and in which part of the market of Bosnia and Herzegovina they sell their products.
In the Republic of Srpska, products considered chemical agents must be entered into the Chemicals Inventory. This group of products includes agents for adjusting pH values and flocculants.
Products considered biocides must be registered in a special procedure. Biocides are disinfectants as well as algaecides – agents for removing or preventing algae growth.
In the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, poison regulations still apply.
This means that for every agent used to maintain pool hygiene, it is necessary to check whether it contains poisons. For agents that contain poisons, a special import permit must be obtained.
The mentioned procedures apply to professional agents as well as hobby programs used by individual users in their own households. Professional agents are used by professional teams for maintaining the hygiene of public pools, hotel pools, or other pools.
For products that have passed the prescribed procedure, we can say that they meet certain conditions. The products must be properly labeled with hazards, and instructions for use must be available. This is especially important for products used by general users without prior training or special knowledge of using chemical agents.
For biocidal agents, it is especially important that their effectiveness against microorganisms and algae is confirmed. In the Republic of Srpska, you can check this by reviewing the label: a registered biocide with proven effectiveness must have the decision number of the competent ministry listed.
Special attention should be paid to using multiple agents simultaneously. Chlorine-based disinfectants should not be used at the same time as acid-based pH adjusters. In such cases, a toxic gas can form, which can cause breathing difficulties or lung damage.
It is also important to pay attention to the action time of the agents and the period during which it is not recommended to use the treated water. Recommendations for storage should also be followed to preserve the quality of the products and protect children or pets.
Using garden pools or visiting public pools should be a pleasant experience that helps us cope with the summer heat. Therefore, it is important to follow the procedures for placing products on the market and ensure that users receive all the necessary information.
If you are taking care of your pool’s hygiene yourself, read the labels! Use chemical agents responsibly so you can enjoy their good properties without harm to yourself and your loved ones.
