An essential requirement for the online sale of chemicals is that you're warned of the dangerous properties of the chemicals (with pictograms, signal word, hazard statements, etc.) BEFORE you put such products in the basket.
In meeting these requirements, this blog post will undoubtedly be of great assistance to you. In it, you will find everything you need for smooth and worry-free sales of hazardous chemicals online.
Today, I would like to share with you another real-life experience of the inspection control of the online sale of chemicals from a few days ago.
The inspector was very attentive to where the warnings about the hazardous properties of chemicals were located. During the inspection, he highlighted the following key points:
- It is no longer allowed for warnings about hazardous properties to be "hidden" in a separate tab.
- Such warnings must be listed before the shopping cart or before the point of online purchase. This means that potential buyers do not need additional clicks (or searches on the page) during their online purchasing process to access these notifications.
- Precautionary statements (P statements) should also be provided alongside warnings about hazardous properties.
Such guidelines for online sales of chemicals are expected to be included in the revision of the CLP Regulation, which is currently still in preparation.
I suggest that you now check your online store. Try making an online purchase yourself and see if the above instructions from the chemical inspector are being followed. This is the only way you will be 100 % sure that you will not have any problems in the event of an inspection.
