Is your label penalty-proof?

These five points are golden - they're short, to the point and guarantee your labels are penalty-proof.

1. Label elements

From Article 17 of regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 of the European parliament and of the council of 16 December 2008 on classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures, amending and repealing (CLP) is evident that label of hazard chemicals must include: 

1. the name, address and telephone number of the supplier(s);
2. the nominal quantity of the substance or mixture in the package made available to the general public, unless this quantity is specified elsewhere on the package;
3. product identifiers as specified in Article 18;
4. where applicable, hazard pictograms in accordance with Article 19;
5. where applicable, signal words in accordance with Article 20;
6. where applicable, hazard statements in accordance with Article 21;
7. where applicable, the appropriate precautionary statements in accordance with Article 22;
8. where applicable, a section for supplemental information in accordance with Article 25.

The label shall be written in the official language(s) of the Member State(s) where the substance or mixture is placed on the market, unless the Member State(s) concerned provide(s) otherwise. 

Suppliers may use more languages on their labels than those required by the Member States, provided that the same details appear in all languages used. An example of a label:
