Methanol is a frequent element used in liquids for windshield cleaning or defrosting (CAS 67-56-1, EC 200-659-6), and it will be subject to certain restrictions in the near future.

As of 9 May 2019, the REACH Regulation 1906/2007 (Annex XVII) will restrict the sale of windshield cleaning and defrosting liquids containing methanol with 0.6 or higher mass percentage concentration. The restriction will apply for products intended for general users.

We recommend that you try to sell any products containing methanol with 0.6 or higher mass percentage concentration by May 2019. In the opposite case, you will no longer be allowed to market them as general usage items.

If you will still have stocks of the mentioned products after this date, you will have to discontinue their sale to general users. However, you will still be able to sell them to professional and industrial users without any restrictions.
